How to do it
- Open Search Console with the Google account the profile should sit under, and click the property selector at the top left. „+ Add property“ sits at the bottom.
- Set up Search Console and verify your siteIf you are not using Search Console at all yet.
- The list of property types carries one row per platform for Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. Click „Add“ in the row of your platform. If the platforms are missing from your list, the feature has not reached your account yet. Google is releasing it gradually.
- Google asks first, in a dark dialog, whether it may access the account, and it names what it would be allowed to see. Confirm it there.
- A second, smaller browser window opens with the platform's own login. Sign in with the account you want to connect, and check that the account shown at the top is really that one.It is a window of its own and not a tab. Anyone blocking pop-ups sees nothing happen at this point.
- The platform asks last. It wants to know whether Google may keep receiving information about the account, and you allow it there.
- Back in Search Console, a confirmation appears and „Go to property“ takes you to it. The profile then sits in the same selector as your websites, with the account name and the platform below it. Every further account on the same platform needs its own property, so the way runs once per account.
- Let a few days pass before you look at the reports. Google's help says it takes a few days for data to appear there.
How you can tell it worked
The profile sits in the property selector at the top left, with the account name and the platform below it. That it stays there is the sign that the connection holds: Google checks ownership from time to time, and if the link breaks, access pauses until you renew it.
What is counted runs through Google Search, including Discover and Google News. Views inside the app stay with the platform. How much reaches you depends on how often your posts turn up in Google Search at all, and for a local business that is often little. The number is still worth having, because it did not exist anywhere before.
